Migration Law

Thousands of migrants continue to cross into Europe raising tensions in societies as the governments struggle to cope with this mass movements of population.

To contribute to ongoing discussions on this issue, the European Law Students’ Association, ELSA and the Council of Europe, organised the first webinar in ELSA history and brought together migration experts and representatives of ELSA. The discussions related to how states can manage the migration flows whilst respecting human rights. The focus was put on the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights to ensure fair treatment of migrants, mainly the right to security and to health care, to protect their children from extreme situations including abuse, exploitation, trafficking and to ensure them the basic rights such as access to education.

The webinar formed part of the 5th ELSA Day campaign which is an annual project aimed to enhance the international standards of protection and implementation of human rights.
